Kentucky’s seasonally adjusted preliminary January 2015 unemployment rate of 5.5 percent came in below the U.S. rate of 5.7 percent, according to the Office of Employment and Training, an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet. The state rate matched the revised December 2014 rate of 5.5 percent and was 2 percentage points below the 7.5 percent recorded in January 2014.

 
“In addition to this great start to 2015, the annual revisions which align data for the past year were released yesterday and revealed that Kentucky’s unemployment rate has been below the national rate for the last six months,” said economist Manoj Shanker of the OET. “That’s quite an accomplishment.
